Martha Jane Duryea, NJ 1861-1950
I am in possession of a wool blanket with "Martha Duryea 1852" woven into it.My mother says she got it from her grandmother Martha (Maria?) Jane Duryea who was the daughter of Benjamin Duryea (1823-1895).It is supposedly made from wool from sheep on the family farm in Montvale, NJ.Only problem is, Martha Jane Duryea died in 1850 and the blanket is dated 1852.Benjamin Duryea had two marraiges: first to Jane C. Williams who apparently died in 1861 at the age of 35; and secondly to Maria (nee unknown) b. circa 1832.From one of these marraiges came a daughter (Maria?) Martha Jane Duryea b. 1861, d. 1950.
Perhaps Maria (nee unknown) was also a Duryea?Or perhaps Benjamin had a sister by the name of Martha? Can anyone provide any information that could help me sort this out?
