Whatever the ties were among the Dushane, Vance and VanSant families, they do not date from the time the Dushane family lived in New Utrecht (Brooklyn) or Staten Island as far as I can tell. Wright, Tobias A. Staten Island Church Records. (1997 Reprint)Bowie MD, Heritage Books. Has no listing for a Vance or VanSant family in the early 1700s.
In 1720, Joseph VanSante and Johannis VanSante were freeholders in the 1st ward in Albany, NY. (List of Colonial Inhabitants of New York)
