Who did Rachel Dushane marry? What is known so far: Will of Rachel DuSHANE was proved 23 March, 1779. She lived in NewCastle County, Delaware. Admin. memo on her will reads "late of Pencader Hundred." She may have lived in what was previously St George's or Red Lion Hundred. Rachel had married (2) to John CAZIER (will proved in 1778). According to her will, Rachel's children are: William 1780-1827 Rachel, born 1786 - married McCantire (McINYTIRE) Andrew 1788 - Lydia, who married Andrew ELIASON (my ancestors) Hester, born 1794 - married one of the HATTERYs and Susannah CAZIER, d/o John CAZIER. The first four children here were grown, the girls married by the time Rachel made out her (undated) will. Rachel died early in 1779. Rachel, (parent's surname unknown) had married one of the grandsons of Antoine DuCHESNE of Staten Island. Rachel's husband could be the son of any of these four sons of Antoine (Anthony) who d. 1711/1712, and wife Annetje Boquet. All of these sons went down to Newcastle County, Delaware, in the early 1700's. Those four sons are: Jerome b. 1666 (aka 'Heironymous' in church records) Valentine, b. 1681, Flatbush, King's Co. NY Garret (Gerrit) b. 1683, Brooklyn (NY) Michael b. 1686, Flatbush At least two of these sons named a son Anthony; at least two of these sons had a son, Valentine. So, which DuSHANE did Rachel marry? Who are Rachel's parents? I am willing to share info and cooperate in research of this fascinating family.
