Looking for the parents of Frank Thomas Mortimer DUTCHER - who was known as F.T.M. I believe he may be the son of Oliver DUTCHER and Harriet HANDY of Orleans Co., NY.

F.T.M. was born 1835 in NY. In 1856 he married Amelia Anna FINCH in Morgan Co., ILL. He died in 1912, I think in Phillips Co., KS. On the 1870 census I find him and his wife & children in Carlton, Orleans Co., NY. In the same locality is Oliver & Harriet DUTCHER and Stephen & Nancy DUTCHER. I know that Oliver & Stephen are brothers, as is Daniel DUTCHER of Michigan who married Mariah BULLOCK.

On the 1850 census for Yates, Orleans Co., NY I find Oliver & Harriet with a son, Thomas, age 16. On the 1855 NY state census I find this Thomas listed with James & Charity HANDY in Carlton, as a nephew, age 20. I have been unable to locate either Thomas or F.T.M. in 1860. F.T.M. went to Phillips Co., Kansas in 1872. He had two sons born there. His three older daughters were all born in Illinois. In the Phillips county history his name is given as F.T.M., F.T. and T.M. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

I believe Thomas and F.T.M. are the same person but need further verification. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a picture of F.T.M. and his father on my website, along with their census and other information. The site is at
Perhaps somebody could identify the picture?
