Hi Alisdair, I may be decended from the David Duthie you are speaking of I think. My records go back to John Duthie who lived some time in Fwtteresso, near Montrose.both he and his wife Isabella are buried in Montrose, Scotland.I have no dates for this David. David & Isabella had a son,David who married Christina Reid, they lived at Marykirk for some time, then moved to Montrose, living in a house in Ferry St. David & Christina had a son, David,b.1825 who married Ann Stephen in 1849 in Montrose, they came to Australia on the Joseph Rowan arriving in South Australia in June 1854 as free settlers, David became a farmer at Currency Creek, a small town just out of Goolwa. David & Ann had 2 children while still at Montrose, Mary Ann & Isobella(died shortly after arriving in Aust.), they had 7 more childred in Aust, David 1862(my line), Christina 1857, Joseph 1859, Jessie 1862, John 1864, James 1867, Alexander 1869.
David & Ann moved to Wauraltee(on the York Peninsula S.A) farmed there.In 1886 they moved to Lorquin , in Victoria, to take up land there,David died in Lorquin in 1890.
MY LINE, David married sara Waller their children were; Walter, Davie, George, John, James &Charles. My grandfather was Walter, he married Emily Hill, they lived at Boulka(near Oyen on the mallie district, Vic) where they farmed land.their family was; May1906, Lindsay 1908, Harold 1911, Keith 1913, Clem 1914, and Dorothy Joy(my mother). Joy, as my mopther is known married Fred Smith they live in Warrnambool(Vic)I am married to Barry, we run a sheep farm at Derrinallum in Vic(1 Hr drive from Warrnambool).
