Perhaps you were looking at Cairnbulg Castle? Tiny photo is on http://www.ar.com.au/~frasercl/hist.html Supposedly the John Duthie used his inheritance (70,000 lbs.) from his father William to buy the Castle and the landed estate. Carved into the stone above the entrance is the local Duthie Motto "Data Fata Secutus" and the initials "ID LF". Perhaps the "I" is a J? Anyway, while looking for confirmation of all this I found this site which is interesting. http://www.zyworld.com/duthie/Home.htm
