Duthies of Inverallochy and Cairnbulg
Posted by: William Duthie Date: March 23, 2001 at 12:56:57
  of 354

I was born in Inverallochy, the exreme Nort East of Aberdeenshire Scotland. I have traced my ancestors back to James Duthie, born 1679, married Isobel Jaffrey. All my direct ancestors were born in Inverallochy or Cairnbulg(an adjoining village)- registration Rathen - and all were fishermen. Many from that line have spread across Scotland and the world. Common first names in my tree are Robert, Gilbert, John,James,Andrew, William,Lewis, Alexander,Isobel, Elizabeth, Margaret, Jane, Mary, Christian. I believe the Duthies arrived in the North East of Scotland from Denmark(don't know when - probably Vikings)Danish name Duthgall similar to Fingall. I don't believe the Duthies'are celtic although some may have developed clan association through marriage.
Anyone got further knowledge or thoughts?
