I have heard this story before, but I have not seen any documentation to its truth. I would like to see what ever proof there is. I have seen a picture of Philip Duty's tombstone that Thelma McKinney has in her possesion. It has Philip's birth at July 22, 1799. All the information that I have shows George Duty died about 1821. George and Eliza Thomas had six children, Philip, Henry, George G., William, Barton, and Jefferson Duty. I believe Philip to be the oldest.
William Charles Duty
