Harold Curry

Harold E. Curry, 77, of Delbarton, departed this life following a brief illness on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009. He was born July 22, 1932, in Delbarton. The son of the late Andy B. and Resse White Curry. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Christine (Tena) Curry; sisters, Eloise Ferrell, Gladys Whitten, and Minnie Kennedy; and brothers, Lace, Clyde and Curtis Curry.

He was a retired UMWA coal miner with local 1971 from Elkay Mining at Rum Creek. He was a faithful member of the Caney Church of Christ.

He is survived by his children, Anita Duty and husband Raymond of Delbarton, Gloria Jean Huntley and husband Keith of Norwalk, Ohio, and Harold Douglas Curry and wife Mary of Delbarton; grandchildren, Jonathan (Joyce) Barath, Christy Chenoweth, Tony (Brandy) Sloan, Dustin (Tabetha) Curry, Bryan and Chris Plants (Kayla); nine great-great grandchildren; one sister, Vanita Faye Penner of Michigan; and many extraordinary nephews and nieces.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers the children request memorial donations be made to the St. Jude’s Children Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at Chafin Funeral Home Saturday Dec. 26, 2009 at 1:00pm with Minister Keith Greer officiating. Burial will follow in the Curry Cemetery at Delbarton. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be at the funeral home chapel from 11:00am until the time of the funeral at 1:00pm on Saturday.
