Samuel Duty, Father of James F and Caroline

Hi~
I'm just starting my research on the Duty side of my family. I am trying to find any information on a Samuel Duty that is listed as the father of James Fleming Duty (my great grandfather) and Caroline Duty.

James F was born 20 Oct 1893
Caroline was born 16 Sep 1896.

Both were born in Wayne County NC on a birth record showing Samuel as the father. I have no other information on Samuel and can't connect James or Caroline to any other Samuel Duty.

I am pretty sure that my James F was in a boys home in Norfolk VA at the time of the 1900 census. I have not other information on Caroline.

I realize that there is more I can do if I travel to NC or hire someone. But, in the meantime, any help is appreciated.
