Dear Patricia,
You have probably worked out that Duus isn't a terribly common name, even in Denmark. Your Aalborg Duuses and my Sonderborg Duuses are fairly far apart geographically, but that does not mean there is not a connection. I do know that members of the family lived in the Varnaes/Ullerup/Blans area until at least the late 1800s. However I have not been able to trace all lines. I have my direct line back 10 generations from my children. There is a chap in Copenhagen, Erik, who is also researching. We share a common ancestor 7 generations back. If you like, I will email him to let him know about you, and maybe you and he can make contact. He is a bit closer to you than I am - I live in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. My Duus ancestors emigrated to Australia in 1872 - my great grandfather, Jes. Another Duus, Christian Hans, came to Australia too, but so far I have not linked him to our family. Some of the family also went to New Zealand, where a lot of Danes went. Where do you live in England? Our son and his wife are in London, but are coming home next year, leaving 31st January.
Do you know what year Nicholas Hercules was born and who his parents were?
Cheers
Sandra
