Thanks for your reply. I am intrigued by the similarity in names. My great-great grandfather John "Adam" Duvendack b.1826, and supposedly emigrated to the U.S. around 1848 or 1849, but to central Illinois, via St. Louis. Do you know where your J. Adam Duvendack died and is buried? How about a death certificate or obituary? I am highly suspicious of the stories of my gg-grandfather's arrival and settling here.
