Hello, Maureen.
I am trying to find out the first and maiden name of Mrs. William Dwane who lived in Montreal at least in 1915 and 1923. She was listed as a daughter of both Wm. B. Stabb in his obituary of 1915, and in the 1923 obituary of Wm. Stabb's 2nd wife Margaret J. (Copping). Margaret had been married 1st to Joseph Mitchell. In Copping genealogies, Margaret only had 2 daughters by Joseph Mitchell, and they are also named as daughters in the obituaries of Margaret & of Wm. Stabb. I'm wondering if Mrs. Wm. Dwane would have been Wm. Stabb's natural daughter Melina by his first wife. Melina was born in 1879 in St. John's Nfld. After her mother died, William Stabb moved to Montreal until about 1908 when he and Margaret moved to Winnipeg.

You mention Clare McCombie as having given you information on the Dwane's. If you don't have information on Mrs. Wm. Dwane, would you know if Clare McCombie might have that information?

Many thanks for any information or leads you might give,
Diana Gendron
