Hi Michelle

Your grandfather John Dwane had two brothers, Thomas and William Joseph, plus another two, twins, who died young, and the two sisters Margaret and Mary.

Thomas married Dorothy Isabel Partington and had two daughters, Elizabeth and Angela, while living in Wimbledon, London. Elizabeth is fairly well at 89, with two sons, Patrick and Christopher [me].

As you say, Margaret and Mary became nuns in Ireland, and used to send us shamrock for St Patrick's Day, which is my brother's birthday too!

I don't know much about great grandfather John and his wife Jane Ann Gleeson except they were both born in Ireland. We have a family bible with some dates written in, and their birth dates are given as June 24 1844 and August 15 1844 respectively.
The date of their marriage is given as Sept 3, 1874, which is not the same as the one Brenda has!

More from the bible:
Children of John Dwane in Australia:
Doreen, born July 26, 1912
John Desmond, born Sept 8, 1913
Kathleen, born Sept 8 1914.

Children of Joseph Dwane in New Zealand:
John Edward, born March 31, 1912
William Sydney, born Nov 30, 1913
Kathleen Hilda.

Does that seem correct to you, as far as it goes, and to Brenda too if she sees this?

Chris Webster.
