A biography/family history of John C. Dwyer is included in "Montana, Its Story and Biography", Vol 3, pages 910 & 911. John C. Dwyer was born, 19 Dec 1863, son of Dennis and Mary (Childs) Dwyer. Dennis was born in Tipperary, IR, and came to the US about 1848. He moved through Illinois and Iowa and settled in Dayton, OH. In Richmond, VA, he married Mary Childs, daughter of John Childs. She died in 1868, the mother of the following children: George (killed while a passenger conductor in Mexico); Nettie (Mrs. Webster Corse, Dayton, OH); John C. (Montana); Katie (Dayton, OH); Albert J. (Dayton, OH). John C. was educated in Illinois but was restive and wanted to see the world. He traveled through Texas, North Dakota, and Montana, finally settling in Eastern Montana where he ranched 16 miles northeast of Bainville. He later sold his stock, moved in to Bainville, and was in the land business. John became clerk and recorder of Roosevelt County, living at Mondak, MT. On 22 Dec 1914, Riblake, WI, John married Mrs. Lillie A. (Yell) Merrill, one of nine children of Joseph and Sophie Yell. Lillie had a son by her first marriage: Horace Merrill.
