I had a g-g-aunt named Johanna Dwyer. She was born in 1834, the year after my g-g-grandfather Martin Connors and his wife Mary Dwyer emigrated to Canada in 1833. Will try to give you as good a response as possible.

I searched the Irish Family History Foundation's database. It contains 12,000,000 surviving rcds for abt 65% of Irish counties. Rcds are increasingly sparse B4 1840, rare B4 1800.

Note 1 - Without a KNOWN parish, the chance of an ancestor's rcds NOT being in this database is AT LEAST 35%.

Note 2 - Only 1/2 of Co. Cork's rcds are in this database.

Note 3 - The RC church kept control over most parish rcds from Tipperary (north). These are ONLY available thru the Tipperary Family History Research center at a substantial fee (regardless of results).

For Johanna Dwyer B 1837 +/- 4 yrs somewhere in Ireland, I found 26 B rcds. In short, these are:

1-1833 Kildare
1-1833 Kilkenny
1-1833 Cork
1-1834 Tipperary
2-1834 Limerick
1-1834 Cork
1-1835 Limerick
1-1836 Kilkenny
1-1836 Limerick
2-1837 Tipperary - fathers Patrick & Daniel
1-1837 Cork - father Jeremiah
1-1837 Limerick - father James
1-1838 Tipperary
2-1838 Limerick
1-1839 Tipperary
1-1839 Limerick
4-1840 Limerick - father William
1-1841 Kilkenny
2-1841 Limerick - father William

Assuming 1) The rcds are actually in this database and 2) their marriage occurred in Ireland at age 21 +/- 3 yrs, the marriage would have been 1858-1863.

For Johanna Dwyer M 1857-1863 in all Ireland, I found 7 M rcds: 1857 TIP, 1857 CRK, 2-1859 LIM, 1860 LIM, 1862 LIM, AND 1863 LIM

For James Dempsey ditto, I found 13 M rcds: 1857 ANT, 3-1858 LIM, 1859 CAV, 1859 DUB, 1859 MAY, 1860 ANT, 1861 KLD, 1861 SLI, 1862 KLD, 1862 ANT, 1863 MAY.

There is a NO MATCH of M rcds for Johanna and James. Therefore, the rcds either aren't available, or they married in America.

For William Dwyer M 1832 +/- 4 yrs, I found 18 M rcds.

For Mary Flanagan M ditto, I found 159 M rcds.

When I compared the list of rcds, there were possible matches for 1828 TIP, 1830 TIP, 1831 TIP, and 1832 GAL. A search at the parish level showed a NO MATCH. This infers the rcds aren't available. Statistically over 40% of the B and M rcds for Dwyer are in Tipperary. Abt 50% of them are sequestered by the RC church; Overall, there is about a 20% chance of finding them. The TFHR center fee is 66 euros abt US$ 100 per name.

Google the Foundation's name to lead you to this database. Register, opt to be notified as rcds are added and browse. Pls post your search results to my genforum msg.

You made me really work for this one. Hope this helps. Good luck.
