Thank you for your reply, Sherri. I know many genealogists really don't like speculations, but to me they are the necessary first step in the chain of actions needed to get to a proof.
Could you clarify a point for me: are you saying that known DNA tests from this S.C. Dye lineage do NOT match any Barber DNA tests? If so, that would seem to conclusively rule out Barber as the father even if he did post bastard bond.
