I know Martin Dye 1786-1856 was born in Moore Co., NC. A lot of trees list Hopkins Dye as his father but none of them say where Hopkins was born. Someone emailed me this:

In Misc Records of Moore Co by Rassie Wicker, I found a deed reference for a
Thomas Collins to Hopkins Dye dated June 15, 1782, 100 acres, book G, page
78. It's signed by William Seale, Thomas Collins, Jr, and Martin Dye.

A Martin Dye is listed on the 1815 landowner list for Moore Co. (Same Misc
Records book)

Thanks for responding.
Dianne
