Thanks Katie, your name and Chucks' have become very familiar to me as I have been research the Dyess family of black descent. I believe Richmond Dyess was a freed slave (1870 census) My grandfather's name was Richmond Dyess from Ms (b 1878). I think Richmond in Ala may have been his father. I do not think the black Dyess' are ready for the reunion yet; we haven't found the connection. Who knows we might be there in 2001.

If you have any information on Dyess' slave or black Dyess descentdants please contact me.
