HI Katie. I looked at the record. My grandfather was listed; Richmond Dyess. b.11, Mar.1878,ethnic B, Registered Clarke, MS. I know his mother was Rebecca (Becky) Dyess (black) and she had a number of Dyess children besides Richmond, 2 names I know; Carrie and Rufus (1900 census, Clarke Cty). The 1870 Alabama Census, which I have not seen, just information when doing searches on line, list a Richmond Dyess, which could not be my grandfather, he was born in 1878. I will go ahead and order the microfiche from LDS to view the record.

Thanks Katie!! Will let you know if I find anything.
