Searching for information on parents and family of William J. Dyess (Dias) (Dious) (Dyous)[born 1834] in Barnwell, South Carolina. William J. Dyess spelled his name different ways over the years. His wife's name was Sallie and they had the following children:

Lila T. Dyess (b.June 7, 1870) who married John W. Broom of Barnwell, South Carolina on November 18, 1887.

William J. Dyess served with the 2nd South Carolina Artillery Company G. (William spelled his name Dias on the 1860 Census, and Dyous on the 1880 Census) He spelled it both Dias and Dious during the war. He also spelled it Dyess and Laura spelled it Dious in 1900.

Thanks, J.Broome / Augusta, GA
