Looking for information Dyess Greek God of Wine and Judge of Men

I found this site by Accident My Mother was a Dye Her history says that The Dye name comes fron Dyess Greek God. I find that in 1572 The Dye Family were living in France and they were in The St Bartholomew Day Massacre where thousands were killed. They were given Three Choices Join the Catholic Church,Leave the Country or be Killed.They were put on Ships to England ,Holland,Scotland and and any country that would take them Ours were in England later they came to Virginia.Just looking for information on this Dyess Greek God and i am wondering why they choise a Greek God for their Name Thanks Carol
