Hi Ollie, I don't know if I had communicated with you before or not about James Jones and Rebecca Dyke. I had emailed back and forth to a guy in Virginia a few times as he has the same folks in his tree.
From my notes I have in front of me now, Rebecca Dyke b. 1784, Loudon county, Va, was dau. of Nathan Dyke and Sally.
Rebecca died in Rappahannock co, Va 3-28-1859 of Asthma. James Jones and Rebecca had a daughter Hetty Jones who married David Dyke. this apparently from Rappahannock co Va Deed Book J, page 2.
I was curious about the David Dyke connection and where he wound up. There was a David Dyke in lower Illinois and he was born in Tn. or Va. and he married a Cynthia Riggs at one point. I think some of these Dyke's married many times. Do you know of any Cherokee links? My Christopher Dike (or Christian Dyke) was born 1834, either Il or Prussia. He had a son William David Dike (my gr-fa) b. 1863, Il. C.G. Dike was in Ballard co, Ky in 1880 with a Rebecca Jones with him, she born about 1830, Tn. There must be a connection to the James Jones and Rebecca Dyke family. Also, Aaron Dyke in Sangamon co, Il married a Mrs. Cordelia Jones and the 1870 and 1880 census he had some Jones children with him. I am sure many of the Dyke and Dike's of lower Il were related to ones of Ky, Va, and Tn, not to mention Indiana, Oh, and N.C. Do you have any Tucker, Kenneday, Canada, Freeman, or Meadors/Meadows connections??? Janice
