Just a little something to muddy the "Dyke" water.A relative of mine, Sarah Castleberry born about 1811in Caldwell County, KY (west Ky) married first, Christopher G. Stivers, 9 Feb 1832 in Pope County, Illinois.According to the 1840 Pope County, IIlinois census they had a son and two daughters.Apparently Christopher G. Stivers died prior to 1840 as Sarah (Castleberry) Stivers is marries Jacob Dikes, 28 June 1840 in Pope County, Illinois.I loose track of Sarah and Jacob Dikes after their marriage.I get the impression that your Christopher G. Dyke was in Kentucky at the time the 1880 census was taken.I will have to check that out.Is it possible that your Christopher G. Dyke was actually born Christopher G. Stivers, but after his mother married Jacob Dikes he took the surname of his step-father??----"Christoper G." is not the most common name---seems like more than just a coincidence. Also, there is this Kennedy/Hill/Dyke relationship mixed up with the Castleberry family. Our Castleberry/Hill family were from Livingston,Hopkins, Caldwell, Callaway, and Marshall Counties KY---all ajoining each other in western Kentucky.Look forward to your comments.Bob W.
