Dyke - Bilston/Ettingshall, Staffordshire
Posted by: Jo Skidmore (ID *****2152) Date: May 14, 2002 at 13:00:25

I am currently researching my father's family.

Father: Ivan Dilwyn Dyke b. 1940 John St, Ettingshall
Gfather: Aubrey Leslie Dyke b. 1903 Bilston (22 Brook St?)
GGfather: Elijah Dyke b. 1880 11 Brook St, Bilston
GGGfather: Jonathon Dyke b. 1847

They were all coalminers/merchants except my father who is a retired accountant. As well as being a miner, Jonathon is also described as a publican in the 1881 census. I think his pub was called the "Red Cross Knight"!

Any info re: Jonathon's parents and siblings v. much appreciated (perhaps from 1851 census).
Look forward to hearing from anyone with a connection.

Thanks in advance,
Jo
