I just today found Alexander Farren Dyke (33) born in MO., wife Hulda(24) born in Sweden, sons, John(7) ,William (5), my grandfather Charles(2M), and one daughter Eva(2) on the 1880 Census in Dexter, Cowley, Kansas. All Alex's children born in Iowa.
Along with them in another household were--James Dyke (29), wife Mary A (23) born in England to English parents, son John C.(2), and daughter Mona J. (3). James was born in Iowa and his parents in TN. His two children were born in Iowa also.
I am thinking this James was the brother to Alex F.
Anyone with more information please post...
