Martha Woods' father was Captain Samuel Woods who married Margaret Holmes b. 1735 who was the dau. of John Holmes and Jennet Wilson of Rowan Co., NC.
John served under Martha's father, Captain Samuel Woods, at the Battle of King's Mountain on the border between North and South Carolina. They had: CHARITY Dysart, B. 22 June 1778 in NC. who m. John Woods; SAMUEL Davis Dysart who m. Ewing, JOHN Dysart, Jr., b 16 Aug 1804 in TN, died 24 Dec. 1870. buried in Bills Burying Ground, and WILLIAM Dysart that I know of. Would appreciate any other kids.
The line of Charity Dyzart who married John Woods (he b. 21 April, 1774 NC, m. 1799 Paint Lick, Garrard Co. KY} quite stongly connects to many Holmes/Dyzart/Woods/ in subsequent years. For example: James M. HOLMES b: ca. 1835, m. 22 Dec 1848 in Marshall Co., TN Mary Ann Logan, she b. 10-mar-1831 prob. tn, d. 16 Sep 1920. Mary Jane DYSART'S parents were John Dysar, Sr. and Martha Woods listed above. I would appreciate any data about the parents of John Dysart, Sr. Was his father, in fact James.Thanking you in advance, Kate
