I've at last found the date of my mothers birth, via my own care records. She was born 01 AUG 1916. but it doesn't say where :-(
However I still can't find her b/cert reg anywhere.
Her brother's cert I have got, registered in Aldershot Hants UK in 1914, but she isn't there.
The IGI shows one G.E. EDES born 1917 with parents EDES and mothers former name of JACKMAN, I sent for it, but it's completely wrong, not only the spelling, but also the date and the parents names which are Thomas and Louisa, and should be Edwin EADES and Caroline JACKMAN. However, this made me wonder about the cert, being as Edwins father was Thomas, and her mother was Louisa, and I wondered if for some reason Caroline had given the wrong info...but the date 14 APR 1917 means there is too much wrong for it to be correct...but of course I didn't know this date until I got my care records...so I'm back to square one.
Anyone any idea's what else to try? I'm wondering if she was actually born in UK now. Her father was shot in the leg, in WW1 in India, and as her brother was born in Aldershot where there has always been a large Army base, I'm now wondering if for some strange reason Grace was born in another country... OR maybe her records are lost.
Any advise/info would be much appreciated.
