Leon Reporter, Leon, Iowa Thursday, September 13, l923 MRS. RAY LAYTON was operated upon at the Leon Hospital last Wednesday for an intestinal trouble, and a second operation was found necessary which was performed Tuesday, and she is in a very critical condition. RAY arrived the first of last week, driving through from California in his car. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Leon Reporter, Leon, Iowa Thursday, September 20, l923 OBITUARY EDNA EVELYN (EADS) was born in Boonsville, Mo., June l8, l896, and died in Leon, Iowa, Sept. l5, l923, aged 27 years, 2 months and 27 days. While attending Lincoln University at Lincoln, Neb., she united with the Episcopal Church of that city. She was united in marriage to RAYMOND G. LAYTON at Omaha, Neb., Nov. ll, l9l5, who with her parents, MR. and MRS. EADS, who reside at New Ramah, Colorado, three brothers, one in Nevada, one in Washington and the youngest at home with his parents, and other relatives are left to mourn her death. MRS. LAYTON came to Leon from California a few weeks ago, being later joined by her husband, and two weeks ago entered the Leon Hospital to undergo an operation, her condition being very serious and she had been failing for some days. Funeral services were held at the home of MRS. H.R. LAYTON, Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Paterson of the Presbyterian Church. Interment was in the Leon Cemetery. On account of her father being an invalid, her parents were unable to be present at the funeral.
