According to the census of 1900 for Maries County, Missouri, Louisa Jane Eads was born in 1881, in Texas. She was married to Frank French, on this Census, having married in 1898.
The story about Texas, as I know it. Louisa Jane's mother, Lydia Helton and father, William Simpson (Boler) Eads, went to Texas with his father and mother. They were Louis Jefferson Eads and Jane Simpson Eads. They went to Texas about 1881 and returned in 1882. Louisa Jane's grandmother, Jane Simpson Eads was born in a covered wagon in IL(?) and died in a covered wagon, on the way home was Texas. They came home in 1882. Some of the Eads's and the Simpson's went to Texas, but returned, for they could not make a living. No trees and too dry, so goes the story. One of the women, Simpson or Eads, carried the gold that she had received from the sale of their Maries County farm, in her bosom clothes, and when they returned from Texas, she used that same gold to buy back their farm. Wish I knew which one this was, but I don't. Sincerely, Louise Eads DeHart
