I have been asked to re-post this here with the new "Subject", so it can be seen by more posters. I would love to hear from anyone researching this line! I actually have gone back and forth between Thomas and Henry as the father of Isham...trying to track down something to prove who his parents were. Another cousin and I have been working on it for over 20 years. Until recently, I had found nothing new. Then--some faint handwriting on a land document was found, and we are on the trail again... I purchased some new reference books from Lawrence Co., In. and was hoping to find something, anything that might help. I found enough to get me really wondering about a lot of the data we have, and how it might pull this together. And--some new (to us) names. As soon as the weather is better I'm going down there and see what I can find at the Lawrence Co. offices. I will post what I find and share everything. This has been a great mystery for so many, many years for a lot of researchers, I hope we get something that will help everyone working on this line. Below is the new data found in the reference books-- 1. Lawrence Co, IN. Will Book-A No Eads or variants. 2. Lawrence Co, IN. (likely Isham’s son, Wm ?) Land Data we already had--- 1. Isham Edds Purchased land, May 23, 1836 Lawrence Co, In. (SE1/4 of the NE1/4 of Sec 2, T 6, R 1W) From: Land Grants—Tract Bk-2, Pg-60 (Also see General Index-C, Deeds—Bk-T, Pg-148). a.) GLO Records on-line gives: Edds, Isham purchased this land desc.---of Joshua’s land, on Sept. 1, 1838. (I’ll check death records for Joshua). 2. The Joshua Edds purchase of land on Jan. 12, 1837 is just 8 mos. after Isham’s 1st land purchase. It also adjoins Isham’s land at the south end. a.) When Isham’s land was sold—Jan. 12, 1865, it included Joshua’s land! And---in 1997, when Sonja did the searches for the land records in Lawrence Co, IN., she found there was still 3.75 acres there of what was listed as “lost land”, and still deeded to Joshua Edds. I’ll check the Deed Record in Tract Bk-2, Pg-60, and Tract 27, in the Plat Book to see what else can be found. **(I have since learned that this is usually the “custom” when there was a family cemetery, so it could never be sold to an individual. Could Joshua have died and been buried there? How was he related to Isham? Why can’t I find out anything more on him and Thomas?) I will check this out when I can go to Lawrence Co, this spring. 3. Below are the 2 land sales from Thomas I./T. Eades in Lawrence Co, IN. (Currently looking for the data on the purchases.) a.) Thomas I. Eades—to—Wm F. Harmed Date: July 28, 1865 Part (of) 21 in Bedford, IN. (Bedford is in Shawswick Twp. Currently) b.) Thomas I. Eades—to—John L. Campbell Date: Aug. 9, 1866 Part of 90 and all of 91 Bedford, IN. NOTE: Joshua and Thomas have NOT been found in any census indexes, birth, marriage, death, nor will/probate records at this time. I’m checking Lawrence Co, Monroe Co, Greene Co and Brown Co., In. because their location is so close. Let me know what you think! Do these new names--Joshua, Thomas--mean anything to anyone??? There has to be a connection to Isham, but can find nothing else on-line about them. Hope someone can help on this! Notify Administrator about this message?
