Have been trying to put together a line of my genealogy: Egan that became Eagan
In family traditon there was an Egan whose son was angry at him for leaving him as an orphan in New York City area and going into Civil War. The son changed the spelling of his name to Eagan:
John Joseph Eagan, Sr., b. September 06, 1863, d. 1913(Canada);worked on railroad as ticket agent possibly Wabash RR); he married Melvia Louise Finney (school teacher), b. September 06, 1861, d. January 12, 1929 (Niles, OH)
They had 3 children:
Charles Finney Eagan, b. June 01, 1885, d.December 27, 1940
Mabel E. Eagan, b. September 07, 1886, d. 1924
John Joseph Eagan, Jr., b. November 1891, d. 1985

I would appreciate any help. Thank you.
