The warm wave which has prevailed in Wailuku for the past several weeks has moderated and the nights now are simply delicious. Word has been received of the election of J. M. COKE as state senator in Oregon. He is a brother of H. M. COKE and J. L. COKE. Rubber, pineapple and pepper are destined to become leaders of Maui's minor industries with oranges, sisal, bananas and vanilla beans a good second. Four years ago MINAMINS BROWN set out three apple trees at Wikapu brought down from Kula. They have grown thriftily and one of them is now producing its first fruit. The Kinau came over Sunday bring 114 Japanese laborers. The executive committee reports the track in fine shape and everything in excellent order for the Fourth of July races. BERGER'S BAND will come over on the Likelike Wednesday for the Fourth of July celebration. W. G. SCOTT returned from the other side of Haleakala Monday and is enthusiastic over the possibilities of rubber. In the yard of the plantation manager at Hana is a very large tree, 16 inches in diameter and with an immense spread. In the dooryard of the Hana Club are two others about three or four years old and there are three at Nahiku set out by MR. HOWELL which are flourishing. W. L. HARDY will at once secure one or two pound samples from each of the varieties of trees and they will be sent away to have their quality tested. The marriage of MISS MINNIE DOS REIS and MR. J. GARCIA is announced for July 21. EDMUND HART assumed the duties of clerk of the circuit court Wednesday. DICKY DAVIS will act as purser on the holiday excursion to Maui of the Likelike. Manager PAUL JARRETT of the Ulupalakua cattle ranch has returned from Honolulu. Makawao precinct Republicans Club elected officers as follows: H. A. BALDWIN, president; M. S.
