http://www.familytreedna.com/public/Eagles/ Project Background: The Eagles Project seeks Y-DNA participants with the last name Eagles, Eagle, Eagell, or its variants. These surnames are thought to have originated in the United Kingdom, possibly in England. It is the primary purpose of this project to document the Y DNA of the patrilineal Eagles lines in the UK and in the countries to which they immigrated. Douglas Eaton Eagles book, EAGLES FAMILIES OF NORTH AMERICA (updated in 2006, 2 vols.), extensively documents the Eagles of North America. According to this book, one of the largest North American families with the surname Eagles has as its progenitor John Eagell (wife Laurene), a "Planter" who came to Nova Scotia about 1763 when he was granted former Acadian lands in Horton Township. In North America there are several Eagles lines which may share a common ancestry in the UK. Extensive research on the North American lines, primarily by Douglas Eaton Eagles has so far failed to connect the North American lines to their UK counterparts. It is hoped that through this DNA project that these connections can be made. Notify Administrator about this message?
