John Eagleson, Jr. and Mariah Louisa Smith Eagleson were my great grandparents. They lived near Kernersville, N. C. John was born 19 July 1844 in New York City and came to N, C, during the Civil War. He first married Johanna Neal 24 Aug 1865 in Forsyth County, NC when he was age 21. She apparantly died during the birth of their only child, William Thomas Eagleson b. 11 May 1869. John then married Louisa 24 Jan 1871 and they had seven(7) children: Margaret Victoria (Maggie) b. 19 Dec 1872(my grandmother), other children: Estelle b.18 July 1873, Effie Alta b. 11 Feb 1876, Charles b. 8 Oct 1878, Hattie b. 2 Oct 1879, Nanny Sue b. 7 Apr. 1881 and Mamie b 11 Dec 1883. additional information available
