Hi Wanda, I have been searching through the Mississippi and Texas Census records for any and all Eakin, Aiken, etc. In 1830 Lawrence Co, Ms there is a Willam Eakin, and a David Eakin Jr as well as a David Eakin Sr. Hard to tell if they lived close to each other since the list is alphabatized. Is this your William Eakin? The David Eakin listed in 1830 doesn't quite match up with my David's family (the ages of some of the children), but I know he was in Miss in 1830, just haven't found where yet. My David is in Clarke Co, Ms in 1840 (spelled Aikin), then in Jasper Co, Ms in 1850 (spelled Eakin) with wife Mary, son Elias and granddaughter Amanda Sheppard---living near his son Samuel D. Eakin. Somewhere between 1850 and 1854 they moved to Cherokee Co, Texas where David died in 1854 and Mary in 1858. I do think that David and Mary may have moved to Mississippi to join other family members already there. David & Mary came from Ireland in 1820, and stayed in NY until between 1824 and 1826. (Son born 1824 NY, my Robert James born 1826 Pauldon, Jasper Co, Ms.) I have searched thru lots of Census records and seen Eakin (Aiken, Aikin) from Va, SC, Pa, etc and who could be brothers or cousins of my David, and came from Ireland several years before David. They just live too close to each other and followed each other to Texas too, to not be related. Can you shed any more light? David & Mary are at the top of my Eakin list, and I would like to go back further. Thanks....and hope this helps. I am still searching census records for all Eakin families...in Miss and TX...and still have 1860 and 1870 to go. Pat
