EAKIN & LINK of NC > GA

Hi folks,

I'm working to establish the link between the LINK family and the AIKEN
family of Catawba Co., NC.

1880 Census, Catawba Co., NC
Link, Henry W. 70YO M W - widow
Aiken, Elizabeth S. 38 F W - widowed daughter of HWL
Aiken, Willie 14YO M W - grandson of Henry W. Link

All born in NC
All parents born in NC except for the father of Henry W. Link, who was
born in PA.

I don't know for sure that this is my family, but I'm trying to
establish if this Willie Aiken is my husband's great-grandfather, the
elusive Wellington Gaston EAKIN/AIKEN aka "Willie" and "Wellie."

Here's the line I'm working:
Wellington Gaston Eakin b March 23, 1866 in NC and died on September 10,
1940 in Evans County, GA
Married Dicy Theodosia Smith b September 09, 1871 in Tattnall Co., GA
and died October 15, 1962 in Wayne Co., GA (living in Camden Co., GA).
They married in about 1891. They had at least 10 children together, only
4 lived to adulthood. Only 2 of those lived to old age.
Wellington's parents are listed as being born in NC (per one of the census).
Their next-to-last child, Willie Ventress Eakin, is my husband's
grandfather (late).

While I don't see VENTRESS in the census very much, there are a lot of
FENTRESS from 1790 on up in NC.

If any of this rings a bell with you, I'd love to exchange information!

Thanks,

Tara D. Fields.
