Charles,
I follow Eakins from SW Virginia because my husband's family settled in Botetourt/Craig after the Rev War, hence have watched the William Gardner Eakin family. Here is what I have pieced together from this forum mostly. You might want to see post #78 for June 9, 1999, and #245 for June 10, 2000. Unfortunately, these contributors have changed their E-mail addresses.
I have:
James, b. 1756, and Mary Grant> James, b. 1777, Lenoir, Dobbs County, North Carolina, and Jeanette Mc Ginnis Grant> Mary Moore Grant and James Eakin>
James Grant Eakin, b. 1837- d. ??Spanish Fort, Texas.
William Gardner, b. 1840, Washington County, Virginia- d.??Spanish Fort, Texas, and Cemantha Weir Eakin> Benjamin D. and Mary Byrd Eakin.
Please post any corrections.
In the #245 for June 10, 2000 post, it says "James Eakin of Virginia that died in 1765. He came to this country in 1740. His wife's name was Agnes. They had children named John, James, Mary, Margaret, Andrew, & Samuel. Either John or James had a son named Alexander. Alexander had James that married Mary Grant." But I have this last James Eakin married to an Elizabeth Topping.
James, the son of Alexander Eakin from Washington County, Virginia, is married to Athalia "Thely" Bledsoe according to Index card 4 in the Gordon Aronhim Papers in the Southwest Virginia Card File in the Virginia State Library.
Does anyone have this sorted out?
