Hi Lynne,
Is there anything more in that "old family book" on the Eakin name??
I have the name Garrett in my family files,
Elizabeth Garrett [b. 1805] married Williamson Ashley in 1826 in Laurens Co.,SC.
He father was Jesse Garrett [b.1766]
The sister of Jesse Garrett was Also a Elixabeth Garrett [b.1760] who married John Ashley.
This Ashley family was in Coffee Co.,Tn. and their descendants came to Ms. and married into my Eakin family in Madison Co.,Ms.
I do not know of a connection but it will be worth looking into.
