I can tell you a little about Joseph Eakins jr. and his family. He and his wife Elizabeth had foyr children. Jane, George W.,John, and Elizabeth. Jane married George Washington Barnes and moved to Texas. John moved to Miss. with his Uncle William. Elizabeth married Thomas Perry Hamilton and moved to Fla.
Elizabeth (the mother) remarried about 1849 or 50 to John Douglass. They are listed in the 1850 census of Abbeville Co.

By this time John Eakins was already in Kemper Co. Miss. with his uncle.
I have yet to find out Joseph jr. date of death or where buried or Elizabeth's maiden name.
Thomas Eakins was named guardian of the children. They still lived with their mother, he just took care of the money.
