Hi I have just found this site and am really excited to see it.

I wondered if anyone knew about my great great grandfather,
Robert Eakins Sr. His parents came over from England in the 1800's and settled in Rome, GA, near Atlanta. He fought in the Civil War under Capt Henry Picks in the Alabama Cavalry 8/24/1863-9/28/1864, he was 30 years old.
He was born in Marshall, Alabama. He fought with the Union side. Because of this the family split because they fought on both sides. The Eakin name changed to Akins on the Union Side. I have a wealth of information from my Aunt regarding this side of the family. I hope that I hear from someone soon! Thanks Jan
