The South Carolina Magazine of Ancestral Research, Vol. XXIII, No. 3, Summer 1995 by Brent Holcomb, page 177; Taken from a Query; Samuel Akin and wife Dorcus Starr, both born 1771 SC. Thought to be from York Co as children were named for families and married into families in that area. Issue; Matilda Starr Aiken, Edith [Ann] Aiken, William M.Aiken, Samuel Williamson Aiken, Mary Vance Aiken, John Aiken, Elizabeth Aiken, Rebecca H. Aiken, James Aiken, Dorcus Aiken, Nellie Eleanor Aiken and Arthur Stewart Aiken. The name is spelled Aiken and Eakin in early records and this Samuel Ekin may be the Samuel Aikens who with Isaac Alexander was a bondsman for the 1798 Mecklenburg Co NC marriage of Ann Aikens to John Aikens. 2nd. Query; Archibald Stewart and Rachel Aiken, parents of Mary Stewart b 1794. Did they come from Newton Co GA in 1820's from Fairfield/Chester Co SC? Archibald's parents are believed to have been Elizabeth Barron and Alexander Stewart. Elizabeth may have been a du of Elizabeth Ingram and Archibald Barron. Maybe a clue to follow up on here to climb one more limb??? Notify Administrator about this message?
