Johann Christian Eakle (who went by Christian) did indeed live in Virginia. Me moved there from Washington Co., Maryland with his wife and children. Christian appears on several marriage bonds for his children in Augusta County. He died in Augusta County sometime before 23 March 1802. His will was filed in Washington Co., Maryland. Thanks for the information about John Baker Eakle and the tavern. There is an Eakle Road near the town of New Hope but I have not been able to learn as yet if that is where the family actually lived. E-mail me if you would like further details. Lana
