Looking for the parents and siblings of 3G Grandfather James Eakles, Eckles, Echols, born Aug 16, 1822 in Virginia (Campbell County?). His father was born in North Carolina and his mother was born in Virginia (from census). He lived in Franklin County, Virginia where he married Susannah Flora on Sep 24, 1846. They were members of the Brethren church.

The family left Franklin County during the Civil War after their house was hit by a cannonball. He had about 8 children, but only 4 survived to adulthood.

James died Feb 26, 1901 in Johnson County, Kansas. The only descendants I know of are from his two sons, Perry Jefferson Eakles and George Riley Eakles who married Highley sisters. Their daughter Susan M. Eakles married George Shores, no children. I do not know the name of the other daughter that survived or who she married.

If any Eakle researcher or descendant knows this family or the parentage of this James Eakles, please contact me.
