Did your Goldie have a brother named Rudy? And another brother whose name I cannot recall? My grandfather, John Monroe Earl was the father of a Goldie, Rudy and at least one other son. We don't know who their mother was. We don't know why he deserted the family. All we know is, one of my uncles (his son by his second wife) was on a troop train, and the soldier next to him asked my uncle his name. When they finished introducing themselves, the soldier asked my uncle who his dad was. When my uncle told him John Earl, the soldier replied that was his dad also! He told my uncle that he had a brother, and a sister named Goldie or Goldy. John was born in Huntington WV, lived in Ironton OH, eventually moved to St. Clair Co. Il, where he married my grandmother. They soon moved to Brookport, IL where he was section foreman for the ICRR. Does any of this sound familiar? If this is a connection, I have John's line all the way back to Thomas and Timothy in the 1700's. I even have a photo of John's dad, stepmom and grandma, and one of his uncles. Please feel free to email me at
