Any Earles in the Civil War?? John Barton, Mary Polly Earles

Hi. My nephew challenged me to find him a Civil War ancestor and I am running out of time. He wants to join some ancestors of the Civil War organization. How do I find out if any of our ancestors were in the Civil War? I know several were "bushwhacked" during the war but I don't think they actually enlisted. John Barton b. abt 1876 and Mary Polly Earles b. abt 1802 and resided in Missouri are my ancestors and the line goes way back on the barton and the Earles both. On my dad's side is the Ratliffs and Randolphs, they both go way back but I haven't been able to pin down any one in the Civil War. Where can I look on line? Thanks for listening. Delorse
