My Father was in Germany in 1984 and searched family records in Karlsrurh.

My gggfather was Konrad Ostertag b feb 28, 1818 and all of the data I have follows that family line forward to the present.

Konrad was born in Obrigheim am Neckar. He married Susannah Hoenig on June 22, 1847. They left Germany shortly thereafter and traveled through The Netherlands, and to England where their son Franz Ostertag was born on June 10, 1849. They came to Newark, NJ and immigrated in 1849.

Franz grew up in Newark NJ and owned the Ostertag Saloon in Newark. Perhaps a cousin of John Jacob Ostertag.
