I am a sixth generation Ostertag of the United States. My great, great, great grandfather was the first German settler in the region of Oshkosh, WI. His name was Valentine Ostertag. He was a master builder in Germany who came to the United States (New York)in 1847 and moved to Winnebago County, WI on August 1, 1847. He was born in Westernhausen, Kuenzelsau, Germany on March 7, 1811 and was married to Mary Ana Kathrina Ruedinger on Jan. 15, 1839 in Oberant, Kuenzelsau, Germany. She was born in Westernhausen on Jan. 9, 1814.

I have extensive information on this branch of the Ostertag family in the US. I am looking to share information and would love to find out more information about the family in Germany.
