A Eastin 12/06/02
Mr. Eastin-
My grandmother was an Eastin before she married my grandpa.I recently visited the family cemetery south of Pleasanton, IA (in Mercer Co, MO).It was in terrible shape...run down and not maintained at all.My father and I (I am 23) are trying to contact the landowner to do some improvements and make the little cemetery presentable.
Anyway Dad and I got some nice gravestone marking from the headstones:
John J. Eastin
died Feb. 28, 1867 at the age of 62y 10m & 15d
(this makes his birthdate April 13, 1804)
Nancy J., wife of J. Eastin
died August 27, 1863 aged 62y 9m & 21d
(this makes her birthdate November 6, 1800)
Dodson F. Eastin
Died October 6, 1894 at the age of 71y and what appears to be 81d.
Also buried at the Eastin Cemetery:
Lettie J. dau of T.B. & E. Eastin
died Oct. 22, 1871
aged 1 Dy
The other side of the stone (which has been knocked down might I add) says:
Waldo son of T.B and E. Eastin
died Ocotber 8, 1881
Coil Eastin
Died Feb. 8, 1902
aged 1Y 21D
(his parents are not indicated on the stone)
(James) Harvey Eastin (1869-1938)
Ella Eastin(1867-1943)
Nancy A Eastin
wife of L. Eastin
born Oct 12, 1835
died Sept 27, 1887
There are also several Kindreds buried there. Also my grandmother's siblings (a total of five) who all died in infancy are suppost to be buried there also.We could not find any graves, but since the cemetery was so run down and weedy, we could of very well overlooked the graves.
If you have any other info and would like to correspond, I'd be glad to hear from you.My grandmother and her other three siblings who surived childhood are are still alive.
Best wishes,
Trace
