Charleton, Eyton et al; Arms tid bit
Here, from another list is something of interest woprth saving and exploring:
There is also a Anne Charlton, shown in the Visitation of Shropshire,
1623, who married Francis Yonge. She is the "other Anne" who is said in the
visitation to be the daughter of the same Richard Charlton.I was looking at
Ancestry of Bridget Young, and I found a brass of Francis and Anne at
Edgmond, Salop. The inscription was missing but had been recorded by Randle
Holmes: "Ane, late wife to ffrancis, dau. of Rich' Chorlton of Appley, Esq. &
Elisabet' his wife, doughter to Will Maynwryng, of Ightfeld, Esq." Anne died
24 August 1507. The brass, according to "A Descendant", "was prepared and
placed" by Thomas Yonge before he died in 1569. Part of the brass are arms:
above Francis are Yonge, Helstow, Caynton, Benarton, Eyton, and Pantulf;
above Anne are Charlton, Zouch, Maynwaryng, and Warren. The arms in that
brass are hard to ignore!Note, however, that the second Richard had a wife
Elisabeth, not Anne, but she is said to be the daughter of William Maynwryng.
Onbe of the very interesting aspects to me is the familial reference to Warren -- not FitzWarren, but Warren. Presumably, but not necessarily, that would be the Earl of Surrey. It is not impossible, of course, that it could be Warin the Sheriff by another spelling. But, I don't think so.
